The best little black dress proves that the stereotypically simple things in our closets are anything but boring. Since its birth, the LBD has taken many forms. There is, of course, Princess Diana's iconic Revenge Dress. More recently, Zendaya in a surreal, dark Schiaparelli gown, Rihanna's RiRi-esque take on the classic, and now Nicole Kidman in a backless (!) and no sides (!) Versace dress. Actress Nicole Kidman wore this sexy dress to the premiere of her new show "Expats" at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Kidman's skin-baring ensemble further solidified her as our favorite fashion risk-taker. (Remember that moment when the Miu Miu miniskirt became the talk of the town? First, the sleek neckline with cowl-like illusions created by structured draping. One thin strap is attached to the bodice of each arm, connecting the dress. The dress was completely open at the back and sides (the bottom of the back rested against her tailbone!) . In addition to being entirely open, the dress had a high-leg slit that showed through the matching black pumps. A final unique touch was the pop of kelly green fabric found on the inside panel of the dress.

Kidman, along with stylist Jason Bolden, chose small accessories to give the dress the right moment. Small dainty embellishments such as drop earrings and silver watches were added to up the sparkle of the outfit. Kidman swept her hair to the side so that the back of the dress was visible. Makeup was kept simple with a bronzed eye and blush.

We know Kidman is no stranger to racy fashion moments, but we can't help but worry a little that she was cold! (Kendall Jenner in a mini dress in the snow?) Did they have heaters on the carpet? Someone get the celebs a coat

Expats will be on Prime Video later this month. The series, created by Lulu Wang, follows the main character, played by Kidman, and her group of good friends in Hong Kong. And let's not forget "Big Little Lies," which Kidman has approved for a third season!
