America Ferrera's "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" co-stars sent a collective FaceTim to congratulate her on her first Oscar nomination.

America Ferrera has been announced as a nominee in the Best Supporting Actress category for the upcoming Academy Awards for her role as Gloria in the hit film Barbie. An Academy Award nomination, especially a first-time nomination, is no ordinary feat.

After this morning's announcement of the award nominees, Blake Lively, Alexis Bledel, and Amber Tamblyn FaceTimed as a group to celebrate their longtime friend, Ferrera revealed. 'They FaceTimed me as a group right away,' she told Variety. 'It's great to be blessed and supported by these women that I've grown up with in this industry and they've loved and supported and cheered me on. We all do that for each other. They are amazing and a gift in my life. Ferrera added of her (well-deserved) award this awards season, "Every moment feels like another incredible pinch."

According to Variety, Ferrera was snuggled up in bed alone this morning, watching the broadcast of the nominations being read out on her cell phone while her husband took the kids to school." There was a moment when I wasn't sure I made it," she said. "And I thought I must have heard it right because my phone started exploding," she said. She added, "I haven't really gotten into my feelings yet because I'm still kind of at the top level of 'I can't even believe this is real.'"

The four women of Traveling Pants co-starred in the original 2005 film and its 2008 sequel and have remained close ever since. Despite the fact that "Barbie" was the highest grossing film of 2023 and was nominated for a total of eight awards, including Best Picture and Best Supporting Actor for Ryan Gosling, who played Ken, director Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, who played the main character, were not nominated for Best Director and Best Actress, respectively.

"They are my daughters and I want to see their incredible work honored," she told Deadline. They made history. They made history. Not only did they break box office records, they created something that resonated around the world and impacted our culture. I wish I could join with many others in recognizing their accomplishments." And in my mind, the history these women have made, the ground they have broken, and the beautiful artistry they have created should be recognized. They are my daughters and I want them to be celebrated for their excellence.

Ferrera said of Gerwig in particular, "Greta did everything a director can do to deserve it. She created this world and made something inherently worthless to most people a global phenomenon. It seems a shame that she is not on that list." As for Robbie, "What Margot has accomplished as an actress is truly incredible," said Ferrera. She said, "One of the things I love about Margot as an actress is that she makes everything look so easy. Margot is a magician as an actress in front of the screen. It was one of the greatest honors of my career to witness her give an amazing performance. She brings heart, humor, depth, joy and fun to this character. In my mind, she is a master."

We love seeing Ferrera not only supportive, but supportive of the women who matter to her. Hopefully, what is not lost in Gerwig and Robbie's omission is Ferrera's own sense of professional accomplishment: "It's so unreal, a dream come true. I remember intuitively watching the Oscars when I was a kid, seeing Halle Berry win, seeing Julia Roberts win, and dreaming that one day I would be able to stand there. That is a lot to process. It's exciting to say the least. Words can't even begin to describe it."
