Nicole Kidman says she faked her height to appear shorter

Today, Nicole Kidman stands tall and proud, embracing her 178cm frame, but this was not always the case.

In an interview with the Radio Times Podcast, Kidman said early in her acting career, "You can't have a career. You're too tall."

By the age of 13, Kidman had already reached 178 cm. "They used to call me 'Stokie. Now people say, 'You're taller than I thought you'd be,' and I have to worry about how high I'm going to be in heels. Whenever I go to the red carpet, they always send me shoes, and those shoes are always very tall. I want to be as tall as a giraffe!"

.

Kidman told the podcast that she used to lie about being 5'5" and a half, recalling that she auditioned for "Annie" as part of a particularly large open call and worried she would be cut early because of her height. 'Because they measured my height before I went in. ' she said."

Kidman admitted that sometimes her height "bothers" her. 'When I'm acting and I want to be small ...... [but] sometimes when it has to do with what I'm doing [at work], I'm grateful. I'm like, 'Okay, I can use this'"

. [And while she is "incredibly thankful to be healthy and walking around," Kidman said, "I've had knee problems and all kinds of things.

But when she thinks about her children, Bella and Connor, from her ex-husband Tom Cruise, and Sunday and Faith, from her husband Keith Urban, all the anxiety she feels comes into perspective. She says, "I tell my daughters that it doesn't matter. What matters is how you allow others to say "yes" or "no" to you and whether you accept it. ...... Our inner resilience as human beings: ...... That is the super power."
