Read More"Succession" had its final episode in May 2023, but on one special occasion, television's most legendary cast reunited. Many of the stars of "Succession" made the trip to the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday night to celebrate the season four nominations.
The hit drama is leading the pack with nine nominations in television categories this year.
The cast all appeared on the red carpet separately, showing off a variety of unique styles. Sarah Snook chose a black lace gown by Prabal Gurung. The edgy short-sleeved dress featured an opaque lace bandeau and see-through panels at the shoulders and waist. She accessorized with gorgeous diamond drop earrings by Neil Lane Couture and styled her hair half up with a black Jennifer Baer ribbon barrette.
Snook later won her second Golden Globe for her role as Shiv Roy. During her speech, she thanked not only the cast and crew of the show, but also her family and other special people, at one point chuckling as she said the series "changed my life."
"Everyone in the cast is amazing. This is a team effort. It's always a team and that's what makes this show great," she added.
Meanwhile, J. Smith Cameron attended the awards ceremony in a royal blue column gown with cold shoulder draping. She accessorized with diamond starburst earrings and a gold clutch bag, and wore her hair in a simple low bun.
Kieran Culkin walked the carpet with his wife, Jazz Charton, and the couple coordinated their all-black look. Culkin's monochrome tuxedo featured a geometric panel of beads framing his tie, and he finished the look with a stack of colorful beaded bracelets. A red carpet treat: the beads were courtesy of the actor's children.
Culkin then took the stage to accept the award for Best Actor in a Drama Series, giving an acceptance speech that seemed to express how Romain Roy handles worn-out emotions. For starters, he began his speech by asking the audience to "please sit down" as they gave him a standing ovation.
"I remember being nominated for a Golden Globe about 20 years ago, and when that moment passed, I thought, 'I'll never be back in this room again. But I'm glad I did. I've been here a few times because of 'Succession. I've been here a few times because of 'Succession.'
He then paused briefly to honor fellow nominee Pedro Pascal, jokingly saying, "Suck it up, Pedro," before referring to the award as "mine." The camera soon showed the "Last of Us" actor laughing along and quickly pretending to cry.
Culkin then dedicated the award to everyone involved in "Succession," saying, "It's not mine, it's the team's," and thanked three special women: his manager, wife, and mother.
Matthew McFadyen won his first Golden Globe for his role as Tom Wamsgans, becoming the first performer to win the award. Or, with all due respect, "Tom Wamsgans CEO," the actor said in his acceptance speech, adding, "God help us all."
"I looked forward to every second of working with the wonderful human oil stain that is Tom Wamsgans," McFadyen said in his speech, thanking creator Jesse Armstrong and the show's creative team, including "a cast I missed so much."
Alan Ruck also returned to the Globes red carpet just two months after injuring his leg in a car accident (hence his cane at the ceremony). His wife, "The Killing" actress Mireille Enos, also attended the event. He chose a sophisticated forest green tuxedo by Berluti with satin lapels and a matching green dress shirt.
For the final award of "Succession," the entire cast took the stage with creator Jesse Armstrong to accept the Globe for Best Television Series - Drama. In his speech, Armstrong praised the show's "sensitive and supple cast" and also acknowledged the "bittersweet" decision to end the series after season four.
"We decided it was the right time to end the show, and it was very bittersweet. This kind of thing makes it rather sweet."
Thankfully for fans, tonight is not the last time they will see the whole family together. They are expected to repeat tonight's antics at next week's Emmy Awards, where they are expected to sweep most of the 27 nominations.
