Keke Palmer's Creative Arts Emmy look was a master class in monochrome

Keke Palmer has long captured the hearts and minds of film and television enthusiasts, especially millennials and Gen Z viewers who grew up watching her on Nickelodeon shows like "Akela and the Bee" and "True Jackson." Since her childhood as an actress, Palmer has continued to make a name for herself in show business, appearing in indie films like "Alice in 2022" and in Jordan Peele's blockbuster "Nope," which was released the same year. Now she is also the host of NBC's game show "Password," in which two contestants each partner with a celebrity to compete in an association game like "Taboo."

And last night, Palmer made history by winning the 2024 Creative Arts Emmy Award for Best Game Show Host. She is the first black woman to win the award in 15 years and the first black woman to be nominated for and win the category.

Palmer wrapped her victory lap on the red carpet after receiving the award, posing in a monochromatic maroon look that drew all eyes to her ensemble. Her deep red-purple lipstick matched perfectly with her long pinwheel manicure and Toni Maticevski gown. The look was the result of a brilliant collaboration between makeup artist Kenya Alexis and fashion stylist Seth Charnoff.

With bright reds dominating the beauty-vision boards this season, it's time to balance that bright shade with its darker, more wintery cousin, maroon.
