Beloved fashion designer Phoebe Philo, a pioneer of the minimalist movement, today unveiled her long-awaited eponymous line, the LVMH-backed luxury line is arguably the most eagerly anticipated launch of 2023. The queen of quiet luxury pulls no punches in her self-titled debut. Featured items include a stunning $19,000 all-sequin white sheath and an XL Kabas tote that looks like an $8,500 upgrade to Celine's famous IYKYK bag. The black leather square-toe ankle boots sold out in minutes, and the $2,000 asymmetrical silk satin dress in stacked stretch silk satin with a built-in bodysuit is expected to become an instant celebrity favorite. [A graduate of the fashion program at Central Saint Martins in London, Philo served as Chloé's creative director from 2001 to 2006 and then held the same role at Céline for nine years. The British designer is known for her brand revitalization techniques, including feminine, modern clothing and simple yet distinctive handbags. Her reign of minimalism has created a cult following. Many fashion insiders have named her collections at Céline (2008-2017) the "Old Céline" era, with special sales by invitation only.
