To say that life has changed since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle married in 2018 and since they stepped down as active members of the royal family in 2020 may be the understatement of the year. As the Daily Mail reports, nearly every aspect of their lives, including their friendships, has remained untouched from change.

Princess Meghan has long been close to tennis legend Serena Williams and fashion designer Misha Nonoo, even before her relationship with Harry. More recently, the Sussexes have become close friends with Tyler Perry (godfather to daughter Princess Lilibet) and Oprah Winfrey, who attended their wedding. The magazine reports, "The Sussexes' trusted entourage includes Gail King, Meesan Harriman, and Sophie Trudeau, as well as Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank."

Princess Meghan is also friends with Victoria Jackson, whom she met through mutual friend Gloria Steinem. (Casually) Jackson heads Infomercial's makeup empire, and "there have been claims that Ms. Jackson and her husband would be the women to help develop Princess Meghan's skin care and makeup range," the Daily Mail reports. Jackson told The Cut last year that Harry and Meghan are "good people" and that she wants to "help them get out of the house."

After their marriage, Harry and Meghan gained new friends, but also lost close ones. Harry's friend Tom Inskip, or "Skippy," is one of Harry's oldest friends; the two met at Eton, and Skippy was with Harry on the infamous "strip billiards" night in Las Vegas in 2012. Harry took Meghan to Inskip's wedding in 2017, but "the two apparently fell out after Mr. Inskip warned Harry about marrying Meghan," the Daily Mail reports." According to the book "Finding Freedom," Mr. Inskip expressed doubts about the rapid progress of the relationship and decided to warn his friend Harry. He is believed to have advised Harry and Meghan to move in together "before doing anything more serious." A source close to the Sussexes told the book's author that his advice was "coming from a good place," but that Harry "didn't completely see it that way." However, the two are said to have since reconciled."

Meghan's former best friend Jessica Mulroney has known the Duchess since 2011, and Mulroney played an important role in Meghan's wedding - in addition to her three children attending the reception, Mulroney, a stylist, helped Meghan with her wedding dress for the big day Marlony is said to have assisted Meghan in the fitting of her wedding dress for the big day. Marlony also helped plan Meghan's baby shower in 2019, but the Daily Mail reports that "after Mrs. Marlony became embroiled in a 'white privilege' controversy with lifestyle blogger Sasha Exeter, the two appear to have grown distant." After the murder of George Floyd in May 2020, Sasha posted on her Instagram story, urging her followers and fellow influencers to speak out about the Black Lives Matter movement. However, the blogger claimed that Mrs. Mulroney was "offended" by her "general call to action" post. I'm by no means saying Jess is a racist, but here's what I'm saying: she is well aware of her wealth, perceived power, and privilege due to the color of her skin, which gave her the momentary confidence to write for a living, which is what I do for a living. In my personal opinion, it is truly textbook white privilege." Mulroney publicly apologized three times, but Princess Meghan subsequently distanced herself from her.

Other Meghan friends have had more minor falling out with her, like Lizzie Cundy, who said she was ghosted by Meghan after she became engaged in 2017. Gina Nelthorpe-Cowne was Meghan's commercial agent and friend, but was told by Meghan that she could no longer do commercial work once she joined the royal family. "Princess Meghan's last email to me was that her life had changed and she could no longer do commercial work." Princess Meghan said she really wanted to be friends, adding that it was very important to her. Unfortunately, that did not happen. We no longer hear from her directly."

Meghan's friend Millie McIntosh said she felt "snubbed" by Meghan after she started dating Harry and sent her a message of support, but was surprised by the "abrupt" reply and decided not to contact her again." I didn't send her a message asking if it was true. What I read from that message was that she needed some distance to cool off."
