Why the Fourth of July is so special for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have a romantic connection to the Fourth of July! Apparently, the royal pair had a second date on the American holiday, and that's when their connection really blossomed.

Harry opens part 3 of his explosive memoir, Spare, by discussing how he met his wife Meghan. After seeing a video of her with a mutual friend named Violet, he thought, "I've never seen anyone so beautiful." The prince asked Violet to introduce him to Meghan.

Harry and Meghan then met at Soho House when she was staying in London; they must have really hit it off, because the next day, July 4 (wait...) They had a second date on the 4th of July (wait...)!

But wait! There's more. Harry even brought Meghan a gift to apologize for being late on their first date.

"She came in wearing a beautiful blue sundress with white pinstripes. She was radiant. I stood and said: 'I have brought you a gift. A pink box. I held it out in front of her. She shook it. The Duke of Sussex wrote: "She opened the box. She opened the box. 'Cupcakes. Red, white and blue cupcakes to be exact. In honor of Independence Day. I told her that the British have a very different view of Independence Day than the Americans, but oh well."

The couple kissed and continued on their wonderful second date.

"Once again, the conversation was lively.

"Burgers went back and forth, uneaten. I felt an overwhelming sense of overture, prelude, kettledrum, first act. One phase of my life - the first half - was coming to an end.

Cue the fireworks!
