Princess Kate begs to watch historic match at Wimbledon, but is banned

It is well known that the Princess of Wales is a tennis enthusiast, and Wimbledon is a regular event on her calendar. In addition to being a true fan of the sport, Kate is also a patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club and has visited the club several times during the tournament in recent years to present trophies to singles champions, the Mirror reports.

Ten years ago, Kate missed Wimbledon for very important reasons, despite begging to be allowed to attend; in 2013, Andy Murray reached the men's singles final, hoping to become the first player since Fred Perry in 1936 to win a Grand Slam. Kate was apparently eager to cheer him on at Wimbledon, but was advised to watch the match at home because she was pregnant with Prince George at the time."

Wimbledon is usually held during the first week of July, and George was born on July 22 of that year; in the BBC documentary Our Wimbledon, Kate told host Sue Barker of that time: "I was very much looking forward to seeing George. pregnant, so I couldn't come to the venue," she said.

Barker replied, "But you had a great excuse!" Kate replied, "I know, but still. I was like, 'Maybe I can go,' but the doctor said, 'No.' Afterwards, I wrote (to Andy Murray) saying I was sorry I couldn't be there, but I really wanted to congratulate you."

Three years later, when Murray again reached the final, Kate was able to witness his second Wimbledon title and attended with her husband, Prince William. Kate told Murray after the match, "Congratulations. William said, "I'm very happy, well done," and Kate added, "Now I can relax with my family."

And her son George, who was unable to attend the tournament with her in 2013, also attended the tournament with his mother.
