Prince Harry to miss "unofficial best man" wedding this weekend

This past weekend, Prince Harry did not show up for the wedding of his former best friend Jack Mann. Mann was Harry's "unofficial" best man at his wedding to Meghan Markle. He served as the usher for the event in his official capacity, as Prince William was his brother's best man.

Earlier this year, after the release of Netflix's Harry & Meghan, a source told the Mail on Sunday about how Mann contributed to Harry and Meghan's wedding: "There have long been rumors around Harry that he secretly had another best man. There was. [Prince William was ostensibly the Best Man, but he was not the only Best Man, nor was he the true Best Man in Harry's eyes."

However, despite their seemingly close relationship, Harry did not attend Mann's wedding; the two met at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, where they played polo together and later served together in Iraq and Afghanistan; it is unclear whether the two are still close. In his memoir, Spare, the Duke of Sussex writes that his openness about his experiences growing up in the royal household has caused him to fall out with some old friends.

Earlier this year, it was reported by Australian journalist Daniela Elser that Harry has only a handful of friends in England. In an opinion piece, Elser wrote, "The tragedy here is that this is happening at a time in the Duke's life when he needs as many old friends around him as possible."
