Prince Harry's friends are "very hurt".

News broke this week that Prince Harry was not present at the wedding of Jack Mann, who was apparently Harry's real best man at his 2018 wedding to Meghan Markle (his brother Prince William stood next to Harry at the altar and was Harry's "official" best man, while Mann was the " unofficial" best man, indicating his importance in the Duke of Sussex's life).

Harry and Mann met at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, both are veterans of Afghanistan and Iraq, and have played polo together in recent years. It's no secret how Harry's family feels about his revelations through his and Meghan's Netflix documentary, memoir "Spare," and other interviews, but apparently his friends are also miffed by his bombshell. Harry said as much himself in Spare, "Some of my closest friends and some of the dearest people in my life have accused me of being Oprah [Harry and Meghan's interview with Oprah Winfrey, which aired in March 2021]. How dare you reveal such a thing? 'About your family' I told them I didn't see how talking to Oprah was any different than what my family and their staff have been doing for decades - explaining shyness to the press and planting stories: ...... The only difference is that Meg and I were upfront about it."

Rebecca English, an expert on the royal family, told the Daily Mail that Harry's friends were "very hurt" by his candor and felt they were "not reciprocating the loyalty" they had shown him. The impact has been enormous, she says. "From what I've heard, there are a lot of people who are really fed up with what he's done since he left the royal family," she said on the podcast "Palace Confidential." They feel very hurt by what he has exposed," she continued. William and Harry had a very close circle of friends with each other growing up, and there was almost an omerta between the two of them. There were people who said, 'I've been very loyal to him over the years, and I don't feel like that loyalty has been reciprocated'"

.

Both Harry and Meghan seemed disappointed that Mann did not attend his own big day. Richard Eden of the Daily Mail also wrote in Palace Confidential, "I don't know if Jack Mann was estranged from Harry, but at the end of Harry's memoir, he says that he was 'chastised' (in his words) by close friends after [Oprah's] interview . He did a lot of damage to those old relationships."
