Read MoreWhen Meghan Markle married into the Royal Family in 2018, she and her husband Prince Harry were expected to always do their life's work together as members of the firm. By marrying Harry, Meghan joined the family business and always expected to work side-by-side with Harry to achieve their shared goal of furthering the monarchy.
Then in January 2020.
After Harry and Meghan stepped back as members of the royal society, they continued to work in tandem, founding Archewell and signing deals together with Netflix and Spotify. For the most part, one was there for the other on the job. Today, Meghan is signed with the powerful talent agency William Morris Endeavor (WME), while Harry is not. As "Marie Claire" recently reported, Meghan is ready to "go it alone" in the near future.
According to "OK," Meghan has been advised that she has "no future" professionally with Harry, and according to her advisors, she needs to break away from the colloquial "brand Sussex."
"They feel that if Dame Meghan does more work on her own, she will have a better chance of saving her career," said one source. By "saving her career," they seem to be referring to her recovering from the much-publicized breakup last month of Harry's $20 million Spotify contract for 2020.
"Meghan is distraught over this Spotify snub and the fallout that followed," the source said.
"Meghan is distraught over this Spotify snub and the ensuing fallout. To be labeled a 'grifter' is utterly humiliating, gut-wrenching, and the worst thing ever." We have been confronted with the brutal reality that things really need to change in order to protect our popularity."[11At WME, the lead agent on Meghan's team is Ari Emanuel, and as OK previously reported, Meghan was advised to reinvent herself by rebranding herself professionally, not as one half of the Sussex family The two are. Offers for Meghan without Harry are reportedly "pouring in" and Meghan will "look over them with great care," OK reports. Rumored projects include everything from a revamp of Meghan's popular blog, The Tig, to her own memoir to a career as a highly paid influencer. Meghan seems to be leaning more toward showbiz-type work, while Harry will focus on more humanitarian efforts. Harry's side will release a Netflix documentary, Heart of Invictus, next month, and is also rumored to be working on a standalone documentary about Africa for Netflix. He has also independently published a memoir, Spare, which became a Penguin Random House bestseller earlier this year.
"The agency will focus on building her business ventures across multiple facets of the agency and its broader ecosystem, including film and television production and brand partnerships," WME wrote on Instagram.
The sky is the limit for Meghan, who can more or less pick her own ticket and choose her own adventures, but she is apparently not considering returning to "acting." Instead, she will focus her efforts behind the camera on creating and producing content.
