Prince Harry and Meghan Markle "created a gilded cage around themselves" by first focusing on personal revelations, a royal expert said.

Since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moved to California, the bulk of their professional activities have been focused on Oprah interviews, the Archetypes podcast, a Netflix documentary, Prince Harry's memoir Spare, and other projects that reveal much about their personal lives and The focus has been on projects that reveal much about their lives in the royal family.

Now that their contract with Spotify has been terminated, they have cut back on personal projects, such as Harry's Netflix documentary Heart of Invictus, which follows the competitors in his dearly missed project, Invictus Games.

Unfortunately for one royal commentator, however, this may not be the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's best professional strategy going forward.

"They have had bad luck in their working lives. But ironically, as long as they focus on offering something personal instead of more serious work, people will be interested," Ingrid Sward told The Mirror

.

Sward's comments came shortly after the Emmy nominations were announced and it was learned that Netflix's "Harry & Meghan" was not selected. On the bright side, however, it was nominated for the Hollywood Critics Award for Best Streaming Nonfiction Series.

"Meghan and Harry may be frustrated about not getting an Emmy nomination, but they will focus on this and make it a positive," Seward said.

While the Sussexes certainly have great plans for their next chapter, experts are concerned about their professional future, with one expert recently stating that their empire is "starting to crumble."
