Florence Pugh says she shaved her head to get rid of "vanity"

More than two months have passed since actress Florence Pugh debuted a dramatically different hairstyle at the Met Gala in May.

"I deliberately chose to look that way," she told Radio Times in an interview, per the Daily Mail. 'I wanted to get rid of vanity.'

Pugh, whose new film "Oppenheimer" opens this Friday, said she wanted audiences to overlook the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. He said, "Hollywood is very glamorous, especially for women. That helps the audience."

She continued. The only thing people can see then is your raw face." [She is currently promoting "Oppenheimer," in which she co-stars with Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, and Robert Downey Jr. as Jean Tatlock, the love interest of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the main character played by Cillian Murphy. Even at the beginning of my career, I was always fighting to control my image," she said. I would wear less make-up, because then I wouldn't be as sparkling on screen." I feel like I'm allowed to look ugly.'

While making the rounds of the Oppenheimer press circuit, Pugh appeared on the red carpet of the film's UK premiere in London last week with short hair that grew out of the initial buzz cut that debuted at the Met Gala, People reports." The actress continued to express herself by changing her hair color from a soft pink to a fiery orange," the outlet wrote.

Of the film, Pew told Radio Times, "It's one of the biggest films I've made. Chris's approach is similar to indie filmmaking," he said, citing Christopher Nolan. If you lose a scene from that day, it's lost from the film." When I walked onto the set, I had an incredible adrenaline rush that I haven't felt in a major motion picture for a long time. Believing in yourself and what you are creating is a wonderful thing to inject into a film set."
