Prince Archie Receives Special Gift on His Fourth Birthday

Mean-spirited rumors have led many to believe that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are not well-liked in their hometown of Montecito, but one recent news story seems to prove much otherwise.

The couple, who run the Mad Dogs & Englishmen bicycle store in the city, recently posted a letter they received from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on Instagram, thanking them for the bike they gave Prince Archie for his fourth birthday on May 6.

The letter read:

"Dear Martin and Jennifer,

"On behalf of Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, please accept their heartfelt thanks for the thoughtful gift you sent Prince Archie for his fourth birthday. Please accept their heartfelt thanks. The bike has brought much joy and is much appreciated by the family. They wanted me to express their gratitude for the wonderful surprise"

.

It was signed by Harrison Colcord, one of the Sussex couple's office staff.

Shop co-owner Jennifer Blevins spoke to People about the generous gift, explaining that her partner, Martin, decided to spontaneously give Archie a bicycle for his birthday.

"He went and bought our little kid's bike (a really nice little bike)," she said.

"So he bought birthday balloons, he bought Megan a bouquet of flowers and a birthday card and said, 'Okay, I'll take the bike to their house.'"

It was the most thoughtful gesture ever, but it could have gone horribly wrong if the Sussex couple's security detail had not allowed the gifts to be delivered.

When her partner arrived at the house, Blevins explained.

The guards did a background check on him and the gifts were eventually given to little Archie.

Then this week, "a courier came to the little store on Coast Village Road and left the letter," Blevins said.

"I jokingly said, 'I'd rather have a thank-you letter,' but it really was! It really was. I had no idea."

She continued. 'It wasn't a general thank you, it was very heartfelt because she took the time to write something personal.'

Subtly digging at other famous Montecito residents, Blevins said: "Every famous person in that town has bought a bike from us. Not one of them has sent us a thank-you note."

The owner also said this about the bike:" His sister Lili will enjoy it as she grows up."

It will be one they will both love.

God, I love the sound news first thing in the morning.
