Prince William Continues Charity Work Close to the Heart of the Late Princess Diana

Throughout her life, Princess Diana was a passionate advocate for many important causes, one of which was the fight against youth homelessness. To that end, she became a patron of CenterPoint in 1992.

Seeking to continue her late mother's legacy, her eldest son, Prince William, became a patron of Centerpoint himself in 2005, and has visited and worked with the organization many times since then.

This past Tuesday, Prince William visited Reuben House, Centerpoint's new housing project in the Peckham neighborhood of London. The visit came as the Prince of Wales prepares to announce a new initiative to end homelessness.

Reuben House consists of 33 apartments designed to provide affordable housing for young people aged 18-24.

"This is not just the opening of this building, but it begins to tell the story that a plan like this should be part of the tapestry to end youth homelessness," CenterPoint CEO Seyi Obakin told People after the royal visit.

Williams said.

William was "in great shape and loved the flat," Obakin added. 'I couldn't keep him away from the young people. I knew we were running out of time, but every time I said, 'It's time to go,' he started a different conversation." [The CEO continued. 'He wants to hear what people have to say, he wants to know how he can help, what more he can do.'

For Obakin, Prince William is remarkably adept at connecting with new people at events like this one.

"The great thing about Prince William is that he's really good at putting people at ease. 'I didn't see any young people today who were in their shells. They may have been nervous, but when he started talking like him, they came out of their shells."

Obakin added, "It's an incredible gift for him to be able to connect with people like that. Not everyone can do that."

William took to Instagram to share his experience visiting the house, "Learned about @centrepointuk's Independent Living Programme and had a great morning at Reuben House in Peckham." He wrote.

Previously, William had sold magazines to raise awareness of homelessness issues and attended a charity gala where he got to sing on stage with Jon Bon Jovi and Taylor Swift, among many other great projects at Diana's Centrepoint She has taken over.
