Why Prince William and Princess Kate chose Prince George's name

Naming a newborn baby is a big deal. Add to that the pressure of naming the heir to the British throne, whom the whole world is eagerly awaiting, and it's a bit of a pressure cooker, according to the Mirror, which reported that the then Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (now Prince and Princess of Wales) used an "unconventional method" when naming their first son George, who will turn 10 next month. They used an "unconventional method" when naming their Prince. (How is that possible?)

And speaking of unconventional: it involved their late dog, Lupo. William and Kate reportedly wrote all the possible names for their child on a piece of paper and taped it to the floor of their home. Then, when they let Lupo (an English cocker spaniel) into the room to see which piece of paper he was drawn to, he chose George.

Have you ever heard a story as sweet as this?

William and Kate married in 2011 and welcomed Lupo into their family in 2012. Lupo passed away in November 2020, and the Welsh family, which includes not only George but also Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, added a new cocker spaniel, Aura. Aura, like Lupo, frequently appears in group photos.

George has a big summer coming up - in addition to turning 10 next month, we will see him as early as this weekend at Saturday's Trooping the Colour.
