Meghan Markle's "Archetypes" Podcast Not Renewed for Second Season

Meghan Markle's Spotify podcast "Archetypes" will not be renewed for a second season.

The Wall Street Journal tweeted, "Meghan Markle's Spotify podcast 'Archetypes' will not be renewed for a second season, a casualty of the audio company's overhaul of its approach to podcasting"

Royal Reporter and unofficial Sussex spokesman Omid Scobie was quoted in the tweet as saying, "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's spokesman has now confirmed: 'Spotify and Archetypes Audio have mutually agreed to part ways. '"

As you can see, there is a bit of a mixed message there as to who exactly initiated this parting.

Whatever happened there, Sussex fans have expressed disappointment that Archetypes is ending, but also excitement about what projects are next.

"Loved the #Archetypes podcast... Can't wait to see what #MeghanMarkIe does next!" Someone wrote.

"Not worried. The Sussex family always has a plan. I love it!" Another said.

"I am so proud of these two, they have accomplished so much in such a short time, including raising two toddlers! They have done it all in the midst of a global pandemic and international move! They have much to be proud of," said another.

Archetype Season 1 consisted of 12 episodes, each of which addressed a label that has been unfairly used against women ("ambitious," "dragon lady," "diva," etc.) and found ways to reclaim it.

Notable podcast guests included Serena Williams, Trevor Noah, Jamila Jamil, Issa Ray, Constance Wu, and a variety of other amazing people from various industries.

While the curtain has been cut on Archetypes, the streaming platform recently confirmed that Prince Harry's Netflix documentary Heart of Invictus will soon be released. Onward and Upward.
