Taylor Swift fans' worlds were violently shattered this weekend when reports emerged that she had broken up with Midnights vocalist Joe Alwyn, the two had been dating for six years.

A source told "Entertainment Tonight," which first broke the unfortunate news, that their split was not "dramatic" and ended on good terms.

"The relationship had just run its course. That's why [Alwyn] hasn't been spotted at any shows."

Fans had previously thought that Jaylor/To (can't decide which is worse) had broken up because Alwin did not attend the Elas Tour dates, but the official word was that he was busy with his own projects.

A source told People on March 22: "They have a great relationship. Joe is very supportive of her career," the source even said. If they have such a great relationship, why aren't they together anymore? Everything is a lie.

Anyway, let's get back on track as best we can, and here's some of what we know so far.

Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn have reportedly broken up after six years together. However, neither has officially acknowledged the reports, nor have they directly addressed it.

A source told People that the two celebrities broke up "a few weeks ago." This could indicate that the breakup occurred before the singer's concert tour, which begins March 17. Logically, this makes sense. Again, none of this has been confirmed, and some believe the breakup occurred during the tour.

We do not know, of course, why this was the case, since no one involved in the actual breakup has spoken out about it. But anonymous sources who speak with authority (justified or not) have a theory for us.

"They've been through rough waters before and have always worked things out, so friends thought they'd been apart for a while but would eventually get back together," a source told People, adding that "eventually" the two "weren't right for each other."

They added, "They had a lot in common and fell in love in a safe bubble while she was secluded from the public during her reputation. Then a pandemic broke out and they were trapped together, allowing their relationship to continue to grow in this isolated way. However, he did not yet "know" her outside of that bubble."

For insiders, Alwyn was not pleased with the amount of attention Swift received from fans.

"Joe struggles with Taylor's fame and public attention. Their personality differences became hard to ignore after years together." They became estranged. :(

Swift has not directly addressed the breakup, but as in the past, she seems to base her concert set lists on her state of mind.

For example, according to Page Six, she replaced "Invisible String" - a love song allegedly about Alwyn - with "The 1." This took place on March 31 in Arlington, Texas.

At the same show, People reported that Swift chose two breakup songs as surprise songs: "Death by a Thousand Cuts" and "Clean."

Fans also noticed Swift getting emotional during a performance of "Champagne Problems" during another tour.

Both felt that the breakup was the right decision for them. People's source said, "Taylor didn't think they would work out in the long run."

"They are friendly. She hasn't said anything bad about Joe. They are just estranged. Taylor is focused on touring now."

Fans have many theories about Swift dating someone new, but she appears to be just enjoying life after a trip to New York with friends Jack Antonoff and Margaret Quarrie.
