Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's U.S. Popularity Rises in Polls, New Data Show

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are known to divide public opinion sharply, but a new poll shows that their popularity has clearly improved in recent weeks.

In the survey, conducted by strategists Redfield & Wilton for Newsweek magazine, they asked 1,500 registered U.S. voters whether they viewed various members of the British royal family favorably or unfavorably.

Of those surveyed, 39% viewed Prince Harry favorably, compared to 32% in the February survey; 33% of respondents said they viewed Meghan Markle favorably on April 4, compared to 27% in February.

Nevertheless, these approval ratings for both the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are considerably lower than those released in December, before their documentary "Harry & Meghan" hit Netflix.

This follows a general movement in approval ratings for all major royals, with Prince Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, and Princess Kate all enjoying increases in approval ratings in this latest poll.

Newsweek attributes these positive sentiments to several factors, including Sussex's lack of media appearances since the release of Spare and expectations for the king's coronation on May 6.

This comes just as news broke that Prince Harry has accepted an invitation to his father's historic coronation and that his wife will return to Montecito with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The Sussex son would turn four on the day of his grandfather's coronation and would celebrate the occasion with his mother.

It will be interesting to see how the couple's popularity in the U.S. and the U.K. will fare after Harry attends the coronation.
