A quick glance at the coronation invitation revealed that Camilla was to be called Queen Camilla at the behest of Buckingham Palace, not Princess Consort as she had been told she would one day be called when she married then Prince Charles in 2005, and not Queen Consort as Her Majesty had hoped she would be called in a statement in February 2022. On May 6, Camilla will be crowned Queen alongside her husband at Westminster Abbey. But how do Camilla's stepdaughters, Princes William and Harry, sons of Princess Diana, feel about Camilla becoming queen? [After all, we must not forget that Diana's funeral was held at Westminster Abbey. It was here that William and Harry would see the crown placed on the head of the woman who had once been their father's mistress just three weeks later. Palace officials always insisted that William and Harry grew up knowing about their father and Camilla's affair but welcomed their stepmother, People reports. Family friends say there was "no animosity," and Harry himself said of Camilla in 2005 (the same year Prince Charles and Camilla married) that he and William "loved her" and that she was "not an evil stepmother." [In his confessional book, Spare, released in January of this year, Harry wrote that he was happy that Charles had found happiness, but that he did not want Charles to marry Camilla. Harry also accused Camilla of leaking details of their private conversations to the press.

"His complaint that he and William were used early on to justify Charles and [Camilla's] partnership was justified," royal biographer Christopher Wilson told People. 'Over time, she learned to roll with the punches. Harry's feelings were well known to her over the years. Her reaction to Harry's comments would be little more than a sad shake of the head."

Despite William and Harry's and the public's feelings on the matter, "she has done much to show that she is ready for it and has a right to be in modern society," biographer Sally Bedell Smith tells People. Queen Camilla may not have even imagined that even Camilla herself would one day hold the title, but "she's doing incredibly well, considering that for most of her life she never even thought about being queen," Wilson says. 'It's a huge challenge to stay in the spotlight at her age, but she's tough and she's embracing it.'
