A few weeks ago, "Succession" actor Brian Cox appeared to criticize Meghan Markle and her entry into the royal family, ruffling feathers.

But now Cox is setting the record straight, claiming that his quote lacked the necessary context.

"I'm a little angry about that," he said. In fact, I have great sympathy for them." [Cox, a Scot, does not seem to be a big fan of the monarchy.

"They are pathological, the product of an institution that should no longer exist. [But it's a difficult situation where [Meghan] comes from, and it's understandable that she sees something [fascinating] - and it looks like a fairy tale. But it was a fairy tale gone terribly wrong.

"I think they are victims."

Speaking to Haute Living in mid-March, Cox said, "When I see what's happening to Meghan and Harry, I think, 'Harry, that's innocent. And to her, too,'" he said. [But you can't go into a system where someone is already trained to behave a certain way and expect them to cut themselves loose.

"I mean, she knew what she was getting herself into, and there's obviously ambition there. So are childhood dreams of marrying a prince and all the things we see in our dreams as fantasies that could become our lives. I am a Cinderella kind of person."

In that interview, Cox also expressed his distaste for the monarchy. 'In my opinion, there should not be a monarchy. 'Monarchy doesn't work, it doesn't mean anything. Tradition, they say. I say! Let's move forward!"

As you probably already know, Harry and Meghan cite their disillusionment with the royal office as one of the main reasons they chose to step down from their roles and instead live as individuals in Southern California.
