Meghan Markle's blog "The Tig" is cleverly named: branding expert

Have you heard reports that Meghan Markle may be relaunching her lifestyle blog, The Tig?

Amidst the rumors, a branding expert commented that the name of the site is great in that it will make the Duchess of Sussex successful.

"The name is short, striking, and uniquely spelled to stand out in a crowded marketplace," David Olusegun told Express.

"Additionally, the name is inspired by Princess Meghan's favorite wine, Tignanello, and has a personal connection to her. This personal connection helps to create a deeper emotional connection between the brand and its audience."

"The name is a great example of the personal connection between a brand and its audience.

That said, clearly a name is just a name - something Olusegun carefully made clear.

"It is important to note," he continued, "that a name alone does not determine the success of a brand. [The brand's mission, values, and content are also important elements in building a strong and successful brand. Ultimately, the brand name should be viewed as one component of a larger branding strategy."

According to the Express, the Duchess explained the origin of "The Tig" in an interview with Emirates Woman in 2015 (the year before she met her husband, Prince Harry).

"The name 'Tig' comes from a wine called Tignanero, often mispronounced as 'Tig-Nanero.'

"'Oh! That moment became a 'Tig' moment for me."

"That became my nickname for this 'aha,' just like fashion. Fashion is not just clothing, it can be art. That is the 'tig' moment."

In this context, it is worth noting that rumors of a Tig revival have been circulating left and right for years.
