Prince Andreou is considering writing his memoirs after the success of "Spare

Prince Andrew wants his turn to tell all, following the huge success of Prince Harry's memoir, "Spare," which was released in January and became the fastest-selling nonfiction book in history.

According to the Mirror, Prince Andrew, the "spare" for Prince Charles, plans to write an autobiography, perhaps to set the record straight about his connection to Jeffrey Epstein and the sexual assault allegations. Andrew, like Harry, is also keen to hire a ghostwriter, and the magazine writes, "(Prince York) is reportedly in talks with an American writer who has worked with celebrities and politicians." (Harry hired J.R. Mohlinger, whom "Marie Claire" profiled here, for "Spare.")

Two publishers have already expressed interest in Andrew's book, which those close to him call "Spare 2.0." And while it is a chance for Andrew to "fully explain his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein and the resulting furor," a source told the Daily Mail, the book could also be a moneymaker for the embattled prince. Harry received $20 million from publisher Penguin Random House, which turned out to be a worthy investment for the Duke of Sussex: Spare sold nearly 1.5 million copies in North America and the UK in just 24 hours, making it the biggest first-day sales ever for a non-fiction book published by the company.

"Andrew is the originator of Spare, and he has plenty of stories," says the source. 'Compared to Harry, his history is much deeper. It will also be fascinating to learn about the inner workings of the royal family and their relationships."

Andrew's friends seem to be warning him not to do it, even though it is clearly a compelling book proposal, even if it is a cliché. However, according to one source, he might do so anyway. If he doesn't change the narrative, no one else will."

Amid the sexual assault scandal, Andrew stepped down as an active member of the royal family in May 2020 and was stripped of his patronage and honorary military status almost two years later.
