Selena Gomez becomes first woman to reach 400 million followers on Instagram

Selena Gomez has set an incredible record: she is the first woman to reach 400 million followers on Instagram.

To celebrate this very deserved feat, Gomez posted a number of photos of herself posing with groups of fans from previous generations, along with a white heart emoji and the caption, "I wish I could hug all 400 million people." [Paris Hilton commented with a heart-eye emoji, Jonathan Van Ness wrote "Aweee honey!!!" wrote, and JWoww added a clap emoji.

Currently, only three accounts on Instagram have more followers than Gomez: Instagram itself, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Lionel "Leo" Messi.

This comes just weeks after Gomez took over from Kylie Jenner as the most followed woman on Instagram.

Jenner lost followers and Gomez gained followers as drama developed between the two and Haley Bieber (though Jenner denied starting the drama and Gomez backed her up with "I'm a Kylie fan!" (and backed her up).

Hypothetically, Gomez may have also seen a surge in new followers after a surprise appearance at Taylor Swift's highly anticipated "Eras" tour in Los Angeles over the weekend.

On stage, Gomez raved about the Midnights singer, much to the delight of Swift and her friends." She said, "The reason she is one of my best friends is because this person never, ever judges the decisions I make.

"She always welcomed me wherever I was. When there was nothing to encourage me, she encouraged me. I don't know if I would be as strong as I am if it weren't for you and your family.

We love our female friendships !!!!
