Amid the Frogmore retreat, Prince Charles is apparently offering Prince Harry and Meghan Markle an apartment at Buckingham Palace.

The center of the royal family's attention this week was Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's move out of their home, Frogmore Cottage, in the United Kingdom. Because of extensive renovations, Harry and Meghan only lived at Frogmore for about six months before moving to North America in 2020.

Harry's cousin, Princess Eugenie, and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, lived at the five-bedroom Frogmore for a time before moving to Portugal. Now, Eugenie's father, Prince Andrew, is apparently planning to move to Frogmore.

The game of royal residential chairs continues, with the Independent reporting that Prince Charles is likely to offer the Sussex couple an apartment at Buckingham Palace. This would give Harry, Meghan, and their two children Archie and Lilibet a base to stay when they visit the UK. Prince Charles apparently considers the Buckingham Palace apartment an "olive branch."

"His Majesty is furious [at Harry] and so is [Prince William]," said one source to the Mail on Sunday. 'But the King is not a bad man. He doesn't want to see his brother Andrew homeless or penniless. Nor does he want to deprive the Sussex family of a stronghold in the UK."

Frogmore is in Windsor and Buckingham Palace is in central London. According to sources, "London is a better fit" for Harry and Meghan. The Sussexes have always wanted a room at Buckingham Palace. They could use Andrew's old room, which is currently vacant"

.

Earlier this year, Prince Charles reportedly "told Andrew that the palace suite was no longer available."

The late King spent most of his reign at Buckingham Palace, which served as the official residence of the monarch until the 1800s, but the King and Queen Camilla do not currently reside at the palace, preferring instead to stay at their longtime residence, Clarence House. Marie Claire magazine previously reported that Prince Charles and Camilla are comfortable at Clarence House and may not actually live there, as the palace is still undergoing extensive renovations, which could last until 2027. The King and Queen do not plan to move into the Palace until the renovations are completed, but they are still holding engagements at the Palace.
