Prince Harry is 'determined' to be a very different partner for Meghan Markle than King Charles was for Princess Diana: body language expert

Five years into their marriage, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's relationship seems as strong as ever.

According to body language expert Judy James, this is due to the Duke of Sussex's devotion to his wife and his determination to set himself apart from his father, who was seen as cold and distant in his first marriage to Princess Diana.

"Harry is palpable, protective, and cooperative. His idealistic view of Princess Meghan is always expressed in his words and gestures," James told Express.

"Many of Harry's actions and gestures as a husband suggest that he is determined to create a complete contrast to the kind of partnering prowess we saw from his father during his marriage to Princess Diana." [Prince Charles and Princess Diana famously had a tumultuous marriage from the outset, both having affairs; they officially separated in 1992 and divorced in 1996. Harry had long resented his father's behavior toward his mother, and it makes sense that he would try to be a completely different type of husband.

"The general opinion is that Harry changed when he met Meghan, and that change seems to be ongoing," James continued.

"Once known as the prince of party and playboy, he has turned into a man who revolves his life around his wife and children and spends much of his professional life promoting his cause.

But, experts say, he would not have changed so dramatically had he not been faithful to Harry the man.

"Change is not uncommon when we fall in love, as we become desperate for approval or to form a complementary 'fit' with the person we love, but long-term changes like Harry's are quite rare," she says.

"In many cases, partners revert to the way they looked when they met, so perhaps Meghan brought out a more authentic side of Harry, rather than cosmetic or temporary changes."

Harry is often outspoken in his praise of his wife and how she has changed his life for the better. Recently, he told trauma expert Gabor Maté, "My wife saved me. I was stuck in this world, but my wife is from a different world and she pulled me out of it. But none of the elements of my life now would have been possible without me seeing it for myself."

So, yes, Megan changed him, but he wouldn't have changed if he hadn't tried.
