The Perfect Match" Season 2: Everything We Know

Netflix's newest reality show, "Perfect Match," has officially come to an end, and three couples have been selected as finalists. In this omnibus dating experiment, alumni of several Netflix series on the streaming giant came together for a chaotic "Bachelor in Paradise" and "Love Island"-like vacation, flirting and competing to find the perfect match. The show hits the sweet spot between relentless drama and discourse fuel about the gameplay of the show's villains, making it perfect mindless reality TV. The show is also a bona fide hit, which means it's already time to start mentally preparing for the announcement of its very likely renewal.

Read on for everything we know about the possibility of a Perfect Match Season 2. (For a breakdown of what happened to each couple after the show ended, read Dom and Georgia (opens in new tab), Chloe and Shayne (opens in new tab), and Joey and Cariselle (opens in new tab))

Not as of March 1, but Netflix has Despite being up against strong shows like You, Physical: 100, Outer Banks, and After the Altar in the same genre, the first season logged over 24 million hours in its first week and 39 million hours in its second season. The second season recorded 39 million hours of viewing time. In addition, the show's low budget and high ratings almost guarantee its renewal.

This is difficult to predict because the filming schedules of Netflix's other reality shows are so varied; shows like "Love Is Blind," "The Circle," and "Too Hot to Handle" premiere on the usual six-month to one-year pace On the other hand, some shows are still waiting for renewal ("Twentysomethings," hello). The fate of "Perfect Match" will probably depend on how quickly they can renew the show and attract a new cast, but it is unlikely to be any later than V-Day 2024.

Netflix has a lot of options to choose from in the new season, even if they choose among the current OBs instead of waiting for "Too Hot to Handle" season 5 or "Love Is Blind" season 4. They can bring back some of the same people and hope their reality star power will boost the show, or they can trust an entirely new cast.

Before we speculate on good picks, here's a hint of what someone involved in the show's production might be thinking. In a recent interview with TODAY (open in new tab), host Nick Lachey talked about the following choices, including Jake Cunningham of "Ultimatum" and Cole Burnett of "Love is Blind," and Netflix Universe villain Burtis Bowden.

Now, let's all take a deep breath and say: no God please no. NO. NO. (open in new tab)

Now, here's an actual rebuttal/petition to the producers of Perfect Match: don't bring Burtis back. He became a villain again in Season 1 and showed his true colors in his breakup with Abby. We don't need him. As for Cole, Villa doesn't need a guy who rehashes the Cuties incident at least once an episode, as Shayne brought up "I was left at the altar" 10 times. There are other options.

As for other options, I think Jake from Ultimatum is a fresh choice. Rae Williams (open in new tab) would also be great in this show. She and Jake could rekindle an old connection or there could be some drama around it. Alternatively, Rae could be used as a goodwill gesture to keep LGBTQ relationships on display as part of the show. She might hit it off with Dominic Defoe in Too Hot to Handle. Or Abby, who was charming in her brief stint on the show, might return for another season.

Come to think of it, if anyone is coming back for season 2, it should be those who had short stints in season 1. Francesca, Nick, and (our favorite) Ines and Dom. Diamond is a breath of fresh air, even in his brief scenes, so it would be great to have him back. Another returning casting idea: Chloe as co-host. (Or just have her host every show on Netflix. )

Other fan favorites who may join season 2: Deepti Vempati and Natalie Lee on Love Is Blind season 2; Raven Ross on LIB season 3; most of the cast of Too Hot to Handle season 4, especially Jawahir Khalifa. More people from The Circle, as long as they can balance gameplay and being there for the "right reasons". These are the suggestions from Netflix. Choose wisely.
