Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Frogmore retreat poses serious security threat

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's eviction from their home in England is not only a risky decision for the family, but a serious threat to their safety. [Frogmore Cottage in Windsor was a relatively safe home base for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

But now that King Charles has recommended that the Sussexes must vacate the property after the release of Spare, the issue of security for their visit to the UK is becoming ever more contentious since they were first denied the general protection that comes with their royal status.

"Frogmore is part of the protected area of Windsor Castle, which is all that the Metropolitan Police can offer in conjunction with the Thames Valley Police," Simon Morgan, a former Metropolitan Police royal protection officer, told Newsweek magazine.

"In other words, Metropolitan Police control the inside of the castle and Thames Valley Police control the outside. You get armed police officers, technical equipment, walls, fences, everything you need to create a protected place, and the law - everything the police can provide in a protected place."

For the royal couple, Morgan added, "We have to be able to provide them with the right protection. That is the big problem. As you know, there is currently a court case regarding the withdrawal of protection for the Sussexes."

The experts are referring here to the ongoing lawsuit by Prince Harry against the British government following its decision not to grant the Sussexes police protection during their stay in the UK.

Now that they can no longer rely on Frogmore's additional protection, "it will be up to their private sector security team to identify threats and risks," Morgan said. [And if they have no problem mitigating and managing that risk, where will they actually stay? [Will they stay in hotels or private homes, and how will the security team ensure the environment in which they stay? [21] [22] "Staying in a protected environment is always the preferred option because you get full support and everything else that comes with it. Whether it's Buckingham Palace, Windsor, or Downing Street, you can see everything that a protected environment can give you."

Honestly, none of this sounds like great news. I hope everyone involved finds a way to make this work out for themselves."
