Princess Kate's "naughty" butt pad shows her "true relationship" with Prince William, body language expert says
Royal fans will all be familiar with Princess Kate's momentary out of the ordinary behavior at BAFTAs, playfully slapping her husband Prince William's buttocks.
For some body language experts, this moment of playful intimacy shows just how close the royal couple is and how real their connection is.
"One of the key moments of the evening was Kate's seemingly cheeky smack on Prince William's butt, which was caught on camera," observes Darren Stanton on behalf of Betfair Bingo (opens in new tab).
"At the beginning of the clip, Kate appeared to try to touch William's hand, which was not returned. She then patted him on the back.
"She was very sassy and knew the gesture would probably make international headlines. They both have a very good sense of humor, they have fun together, and you can see that they are mischievous."
Stanton believes this is especially true of Kate's personality.
"The gesture was also indicative of Kate's confidence.
"It's not often you see a senior member of the Royal Family spanking their partner. [Most couples make private gestures to each other, but this is Kate's.
"She is obviously very comfortable in her own skin. This clearly shows how much confidence the couple has gained over the years. It is clear that they do not mind the public seeing their affectionate side."
Personally, I'm all for this PDA. Carry on, kids.
