Spice Girls, Elton John, and Harry Styles also decline invitations to King Charles' coronation concert.

Hitmakers continue to turn down offers to perform at King Charles' coronation concert at Windsor Castle on May 7. Last week, Marie Claire reported that Adele and Ed Sheeran had turned down the opportunity, while the Daily Mail reports that Elton John, Harry Styles, and the Spice Girls will follow suit. According to The Sun, all three groups turned down the chance to perform on stage due to their busy schedules.

The Spice Girls were almost certain to perform as of last month, but it appears that the dream of reunited girl power did not come true. (So, unfortunately, there is no chance to reproduce the iconic photo above, which shows Charles looking bewildered and unsure of what is going on.) According to the Daily Express, both Elton John and Harry Styles are on tour and the May 7 date is not in their schedules.

"The organizers are racing against time to put together an exciting lineup, but they are running into one difficulty after another," a source told The Sun. Elton John was at the top of Charles' list, but a dash to the UK is not possible because he will be touring Europe the previous Friday in Germany and again shortly after his Windsor show." Meanwhile, Harry Styles, the man of the moment, is also tour bound and unable to assemble key band members as he goes into some much-needed downtime".

However, it's not all bad news on the lineup front: Kylie Minogue has reportedly said yes, as has boy band Take That, who is rumored to headline the concert. Take That has long been a royal favorite; remember their performance at a 2007 concert for Princess Diana, when then-Kate Middleton sang "Back for Good" with them as their romance was rekindled after her temporary split with Prince William I wonder if they would have.

Lionel Richie is also scheduled to perform, and more performers are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.

"Some of the biggest names in world music have been approached to perform at the concert," says one insider. 'If you make a list of the most popular artists in the world over the last 30 years, they're all being considered.' But Take That is at the top of that list, and for the organizers to cross the line so early is a major coup."

[12 [Even though the band is on tour this summer, the Daily Mail reports that the band held a concert on May 7 in case they were approached to perform at the Coronation concert.
