Prince Harry on the verge of appearing on "Saturday Night Live" to promote "Spare
To promote his memoir Spare, Prince Harry appeared on 60 Minutes, Good Morning America, and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert: Saturday Night Live.
According to multiple news outlets, Harry was on the verge of appearing on this iconic comedy show, but was passed over at the last minute.
According to a source who spoke to Page Six, "Harry was very motivated. The SNL producers had been after Harry for a while. Everyone on the show was very supportive of the idea, and they definitely tuned in."
Another industry source told the magazine, "There are always a lot of names in the mix, but Harry's name was definitely discussed." In fact, sources told Page Six that the show's executive producer, Lorne Michaels, has said that Harry could appear on the show as a host or, as one of the magazine's sources put it, "in a surprise appearance in a sketch." He still likes the idea.
This past Saturday night, in his weekly "Weekend Update" sketch, Michael Che asked James Austin Johnson and Devon Walker, Harry's former Eton classmates and "British rappers," about the royal family. Johnson played a character called "Millie Pounds" and said, "They're mean to Harry. We know what's really going on," before rapping about the Duke of Sussex. Even if Harry himself wasn't there, there would still be a lot of talk about him.
