Grammy Queen Bows Down to Beyonce
In the words of Rizzo, "You are clearly the artist of our lives." The 65th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony was a big night for Queen Bey. Arriving *fashionably* late to the ceremony, Beyoncé swept the awards ceremony and became the all-time record holder for most Grammy awards.
Previously tied with Quincy Jones for 28 awards, Beyoncé entered record-breaking territory by winning two awards in the pre-airing proceedings. Before arriving at the ceremony, she won awards for Best Dance/Electronic Recording ("Break My Soul") and Best Traditional R&B Performance ("Plastic Off the Sofa"). Beyonce later won the award for Best R&B Song for "Cuff It," but according to host Trevor Noah, she was unable to accept the award onstage because she was stuck in Los Angeles traffic. However, it was her win for Best Dance/Electronic Album for "Renaissance" that earned her the title of "Most Honored Artist in Grammy History." After setting the record straight, she took the stage for the first time that night (she looked stunning in her metallic gown, by the way) and accepted the award in a sentimental speech.
"I'm going to not get too emotional and just take this night in. I want to thank God for protecting me. ...... I want to thank my uncle Johnny. He's not here, but he's here in spirit." She also thanked her parents, husband, and three children, before adding, "I want to thank the queer community for your love and for inventing this genre."
Queen Bey now has a whopping 32 wins, but the night is not over yet. Beyonce remains in the running for three major awards: album, record, and song of the year.
