Jamie Lee Curtis' Reaction to Her First Oscar Nomination Is the Purest of the Week
This year's film awards season brought the first major nominations and awards for film veterans who had been patiently waiting for years or even decades.
Jennifer Coolidge (61) was finally recognized for her talent, thanks to her role in White Lotus. Meanwhile, Michelle Yeoh (60) won her first Golden Globe (and was just nominated for an Academy Award) for "Everywhere Everything Everywhere All at Once."
Another very famous actress is finally being recognized: 64-year-old Jamie Lee Curtis is the first Oscar nominee ever, and her reaction is the sweetest and purest ever.
Curtis took to Instagram to share a series of photos from when she learned of her Best Supporting Actress nomination for Everything Everywhere All at Once: In the first, she has her hand over her mouth, clearly in shock; in the second, she has her hands above her head and her jaw dropped; and in the third, she has her hands on her head and her chin down. In the third photo, she is hugging her husband tightly.
Curtis explained in the caption that her friend Debbie Oppenheimer offered to watch the announcement with her, just as she did when Oppenheimer won the Oscar.
"This is what I call a surprise!"
Curtis Curtis wrote.
"One of my oldest and best friends, @debopp, was sitting in front of my house at 5:15 and texted me asking if I wanted to watch the announcement with him. Debbie Oppenheimer won an Oscar for her beautiful documentary Into The Arms Of Strangers, which tells the story of a mother who is one of the Kindertransport Into The Arms Of Strangers :. Stories of the Kindertransport.
"It was pitch black and she was freezing cold in her hoodie. The day she left for the Academy Awards ceremony, she came and sat with me, just as I had sat with her the year she won.
"We held hands. I didn't even realize she was taking my picture. First the moment she heard my name, then the thrill of hearing my friend Stephanie's (@stephaniehsuofficial) name, then the rest of the nominations, and best of all, her loving embrace of my husband."
"No filters. No pretense. Just the truth in a moment of joy. Hey, I went to @everythingeverywheremovie 11!"
Demi Lovato said, "You deserve this more than anyone. I am so excited for you mom and I love you so much!" She commented.
Jennifer Grey said, "oh YESSS sister!!!" and Daniel Day Kim commented, "Congratulations!!!" commented.
