Jennifer Coolidge speaks candidly about how her love life contributes to her "insecurities."
Jennifer Coolidge has been busy stealing people's hearts with her talent, humor, and sincerity over the past few weeks, but she admitted she doesn't love herself as much as others apparently do.
She told Page Six on the Golden Globes red carpet after accepting her award and receiving a standing ovation after her speech.
"I've been around since I was 30 years old. But when I go to parties with other fellow actors, I don't know them. I live quietly in New Orleans, and the only people I know are people I know from work and my friends from Ground Rings."
The interviewer then asked why she didn't believe in herself as a fan, to which she replied wistfully, "I don't believe in myself. I mean, in my dating life, I never found the right person for me. I didn't find the love of my life."
She continued.
She continued, "I think I made some bad decisions. It makes me insecure and it makes me not feel like I'm great."
"People from Hollywood come to me and say, 'You're amazing.'"
When she won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series, Coolidge gave the most wonderful speech.
She began by saying about the award itself (sort of), "I can put this down. [Mike White, you have given me hope. You have given me a new beginning. You killed me, and even though this is the last time, even though this is the last time, you have changed my life in a million ways. The neighbors would talk to me. I was never invited to a single party on the hill, and now everyone invites me!"
People are so happy to be here.
People found Coolidge's speech funny, but she explained to Page Six magazine that she was just playing herself and not trying to be funny at all.
"I surprised myself," she said. 'I was standing in front of an audience and I forgot where I was. I was saying a lot of what I was feeling. I wasn't trying to be funny; I was serious."
