Meghan Markle's first meeting with Prince William did not go particularly smoothly, if leaked excerpts from Prince Harry's memoir, Spare, are to be believed.

As is reportedly her way, the "Suits" native hugged William as soon as she saw him.

"He was totally freaked out," Harry wrote (via Us Weekly). 'He was repulsed. Willie didn't hug people he didn't know very well. Meg hugged mostly strangers.

As for why Meghan felt empowered to hug the man who would become her brother-in-law, Harry continued, "I'm not a big fan of hugs. But when I met my brother, it was only Willie, who loves 'Suits.'"

This story is eerily reminiscent of Princess Meghan's own story of meeting Princess Kate for the first time. I was always a hugger, so I didn't realize how shocking it really was to a lot of Brits," she revealed in the Netflix documentary Harry & Meghan.

There is more to William's reaction to Meghan's hug than meets the eye. This is because Harry and Kate were apparently big fans of "Suits" before Harry started dating his now wife. When Harry told her he was dating Meghan, William reportedly said, "No way."

Harry said in Spare, "I was baffled until Willie and Kate explained that they were regular, nay, religious viewers of Suits. Great, I thought, and laughed. I had been worried wrong. All this time I thought Willie and Kate might not welcome Meg into the family, but now I had to worry that they would hound her for autographs."

Sadly, it seems there was quite a lot to worry about.
