Meghan Markle Visits Princess Diana's Tomb for "Clarity and Guidance," Prince Harry Says

Prince Harry revealed from his forthcoming confessional book, "Spare,"

that Meghan sought clarity and guidance from Princess Diana as he and his wife Meghan Markle visited the grave of their late mother, Princess Diana, amidst continued press scrutiny in the UK. Harry and Meghan visited Althorpe House in Northamptonshire, where Princess Diana is buried, to mark the 20th anniversary of her mother's death in a Paris car crash in 1997, "Us Weekly" reported. During the visit, Harry left Princess Meghan alone to spend some private time with her mother-in-law, whom she did not know.

"When I returned, she was kneeling with her eyes closed, palms flat against the stone," Harry wrote, adding that Meghan was seeking "clarity and guidance" from the late Princess of Wales.

Meghan's wish came as she "grappled with the public scrutiny from the British press due to her relationship with Harry," Us Weekly reported, adding that Meghan "faced major obstacles during her stay abroad."

Harry has likened Princess Meghan's treatment by the British press to his late mother's experiences with the press, and in Harry & Meghan, a six-part Netflix documentary about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Harry compared his wife to his mother, saying, "A lot of the way Meghan is and the way she is I think she is very much like my mother. She has the same compassion, the same empathy, the same confidence, the same warmth."[9 [Harry had two serious relationships with Chelsea Davey and Cressida Bonas before meeting Meghan in 2016, and in "Harry & Meghan," he said of finding the right person, "'Someone willing and able to withstand all the baggage that comes with being with me. I remember thinking, 'How will I ever find the right person? Within weeks or months, every relationship I had was splattered all over the papers, the person's family was harassed, and their life was turned upside down."

Spare will be published in full this Tuesday, January 10.
