Prince Harry writes that Prince William was "drunk" the morning of his 2011 wedding to Kate Middleton

According to excerpts from Prince Harry's memoir, Spare, the Duke of Sussex claims that his brother Prince William was tipsy hours before he married Kate Middleton at Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011.

Harry stood by his brother's side at his brother's big day, and vice versa when Harry married Meghan Markle in 2018, writing that William was "drunk" when the two greeted well-wishers at the mall that morning, according to Hello.

"Harry explained that before making his appearance, he rolled down his car window and offered his groom-to-be brother a mint to help mask the scent of the rum he had consumed the night before," the outlet reported.

"Harry also explained that when William went to pick him up for his big day, he looked like he hadn't slept a wink, and despite William's attempts to reassure his brother that he was okay, Harry was unconvinced."

Harry also wrote that William confessed to him that he was "frustrated" in anticipation of the wedding, mostly over "the lack of choice, including wedding attire," according to Hello.

His brother's wedding day was hard for Harry, and "People" reported that William said that marrying Kate "feels like another goodbye."

"The brother who escorted me to Westminster Abbey that morning is gone forever," Harry wrote. 'Who can deny it? The brother who escorted me to Westminster Abbey that morning is gone forever. Never again will we ride together through the Lesotho countryside, blown by capes. We will never again spend time together in a cottage that smells of horses, learning to fly. Who will keep us apart?

Harry wrote in his memoir, "And as Willie walked her down the aisle and disappeared out the door into the carriage to Buckingham Palace in the eternal partnership they had vowed, I remember thinking: goodbye."

And speaking of Westminster Abbey, Us Weekly also revealed that William told his brother that he could not marry Meghan Markle in the same place. Harry and Meghan were eventually married in St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle.

"The Spare Totality" will be released this Tuesday, January 10.
