Prince Harry Says He Tried Everything to Make Peace with Royal Family
In an interview with Tom Bradby of Britain's ITV, Prince Harry said he had tried everything to reconcile with the royal family, but nothing had worked.
Asked why he wrote his shocking memoir, Spare, the Duke of Sussex hinted that if his father and brother had been open to the discussions he wanted, he might not have had to go into such detail.
"The saddest part of this, Tom, is that it didn't have to come to this," the Duke said (via The Independent).
"It didn't have to go this far. We've had conversations, we've written letters, we've emailed.
To top it off, Harry claimed he was told he was "imagining it."
He said, "That really hurts. If it had stopped before I fled my home country with my wife and son in fear for their safety, maybe it would have turned out differently. It's hard."
That said, later in the interview, Harry told his family that "forgiveness is 100 percent possible."
Harry's ITV interview is one of four that will air this week in conjunction with his memoir, which will be released on January 10. More surprising revelations are expected from Harry over the next few days.
