Prince Harry May Interview Gayle King to Promote 'Spare,' TV Sources Say
Prince Harry is said to be available for an interview with Gayle King in 2023 while promoting his memoir, Spare.
A senior CBS source told the Mirror that the Duke of Sussex has "had discussions" with the network, and another CBS insider said that this discussion could result in an interview with King about Harry's life.
If this interview does happen, it would be a sort of sequel to the bombshell interview Harry and Meghan Markle had with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021.
The news comes in the wake of Netflix's "Harry & Meghan" documentary, which was partially released last week and the second half will be released tomorrow, December 15.
While the Sussexes may not be doing a press tour to promote the series (in fact, given the large audience it has already attracted, there is no need for one), Harry's publisher, Penguin Random House, is interviewing the Duke about it seems to be hoping that he will.
"Prince Harry won't stop talking when the Netflix series is released; in a month he'll be out doing promotional work again," a source told the Mirror.
"Unlike now, when Netflix is letting the show speak for itself, Random House is enlisting him for selective promotion of the book. [They've invested over $30 million (£24 million) in it, so they want to appeal to as many people as possible." [Having Harry in a primetime special with The King would be a huge coup and would attract millions of viewers."
"One advantage is that she and Meghan are close. Harry will know he has support from her."
King has notably been invited to the Sussex couple's wedding and Meghan's Archie baby shower, according to Vanity Fair, defending the Netflix series from criticism.
Of course, so far there has been no actual confirmation. The source concluded, "We can't really be sure of anything until the Netflix show is over and the dust has settled. A lot can happen, and there could be a reaction from the royal family."
Meanwhile, it was thought that the Sussexes might appear on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" on December 15, but this appears to have been a false alarm.
