Prince Harry felt Meghan Markle was in the royal "limelight" as Princess Diana once did
Meghan Markle's arrival in the Royal Family sadly caused problems for her and Prince Harry in many ways, but it was especially problematic, at least from the Sussex family's perspective, because she overshadowed the other family members, namely the Queen and then the Cambridges, and It was possible that she might have overshadowed the other members of the family, namely the Queen and the then Cambridge couple.
In episode 4 of Netflix's "Harry & Meghan," a friend of theirs commented It was so popular that the inner workings of the Palace were incredibly intimidated."
The "Harry & Meghan" show was a great success, and the "Harry & Meghan" show was a great success.
This seems to be an opinion shared by the royal spouses themselves.
"The problem is," says Harry, apparently without mincing words, "people get upset when someone who should be in a supporting role marries into the limelight and does better than the person who was born to do this job. [Because] they've been led to believe that the only way a charity can be successful and improve its reputation is to be on the front page of the newspaper. But it is the media that chooses who to put on the front page."
They told an anecdote to illustrate this point.
"When it first pinged for her, M and I spent the night in a room at Buckingham Palace.
And Meghan recalls, "The next morning they prepared breakfast for Harry and me."
"And on the front page of the Telegraph was Meghan," says Harry.
"I thought, 'Oh my God,'" says Meghan.
The Duke of Sussex says, "She was like, 'But it's not my fault.' I was like, 'I know. My mother felt the same way."
Because of her intense popularity, Princess Diana was often overshadowed by her husband, Prince Charles. At this point, the documentary switches to snippets of Princess Diana's controversial "Panorama" interview.
When asked to explain what she meant, she continued.
This, she remembers, was (understandably) difficult for Prince Charles to repeat.
The situation was similar for Harry and Meghan in that Prince William and Princess Kate needed to be more popular than they were in terms of the survival of the monarchy. Here the Sussexes seem to imply that this was one of the factors that led to the split between the royal families.
