Despite the documentary's claims, Kate Middleton is a "big hugger" and friend
The Princess of Wales, who has been largely omitted from criticism of the royal family in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's six-part Netflix documentary, perhaps received the most attention when Meghan first met Kate, the then Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, when Harry and Meghan s home for dinner, probably when she reminisced about that time.
Meghan recalled that she (Meghan herself) was "barefoot in ripped jeans" and said, "I was a hugger. I didn't realize that was really shocking to a lot of Brits." Then she added: "I was a hugger. 'I think I quickly began to realize that outward prestige carries over to the inside. There is a positive attitude, and when you close the door, you relax. But that formal attitude goes both ways. That was the surprise to me."
But the implication that Kate doesn't hug is not true, one friend told People.
"Kate is a big hugger. She's warm and friendly and gives big hugs and kisses to everyone. It comes naturally to her."
Kate's natural affection was on full display at the Christmas carol concert she hosted at Westminster Abbey last Thursday, bowing to her father-in-law, King Charles, enthusiastically high-fiving children and chatting with guests. Her warmth was especially evident when she welcomed her husband Prince William and their three children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, to the abbey, body language expert Judy James told the Mirror.
"It's so sweet to see Kate walk out to greet her husband and two children when they arrive in the car," James says. 'She waits for the doors to open, and there are moments when she looks excited as they all walk out. Kate is firmly in the lead as the emcee of the event, and the group is well dressed and lined up to go inside together. William is holding Charlotte's hand, and although Kate lets George hold her hand, she seems to know that George may prefer to walk without her hand, with Kate gently guiding his back. Kate seems excited to show the children the decorations for the event.
James also notes Kate's "signals of determination and resilience as she emerges from the car here alone. On the right side, her hair is swept back and away from her face, a sign of confidence and to ensure that her face is fully visible to the camera as she enters the hall. Her hair is swept back, a sign of constant false confidence and a willingness to be strong and hold her head high. She also walks with a wide stride. This is a trick that is difficult to pull off when wearing high-heeled court shoes, which also suggests a determination to appear resilient"
.
Regarding William, James noted that he adopted a "tough guy" swagger at an event held the same day the final three parts of Harry & Meghan were released worldwide.
