Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Netflix series a 'public declaration of war' against royal family: experts
Reconciliation between the Sussex family and other royal families has been a hot topic for the past few years, but Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Netflix documentary is likely to seriously deepen their rift.
Following the release of the second teaser trailer for "Harry & Meghan" on December 5, royal family expert Jonathan Sacerdoti told Marie Claire, "We haven't seen much of Prince Harry in a while, so it's not surprising that documentary makers are trying to make him It's good that the documentary makers captured the moment when he realized that there is a hierarchy. Such an original and philosophical insight will be of deep interest to future royal historians."
Nevertheless, Sacerdoti is critical of the series as a whole, predicting that royal relations will be at their worst in the months following its release. As one expert commented, "This seems like an open declaration of war within the royal family."
Specifically, this commentator believes that one of the reasons for the royal exit is that the royal couple's media appearances are at odds with the desire they have expressed in the past to lead a more modest life.
"Harry and Meghan can easily escape what they try to portray as press intrusion into their lives simply by choosing a quieter life that people understand they want," says Sacerdoti.
"If they don't want a cameraman in their lives, they can stop hiring cameramen. [The trailer for the Netflix reality show even has pictures taken at Buckingham Palace.
"Private photographers in the palace needed the queen's permission at the time, but the Telegraph reported that they did not seek her permission and that palace staff were surprised by the photographers' presence.
Sacerdoti concludes. "Meghan and Harry could have maintained a more low-key, unassuming presence, supporting causes and charities they thought were important, or actually training new skills and getting regular jobs. But they have chosen not to do so. This is a clear decision, and for better or worse, the public will judge them."[15
