Shut up! A new "Princess Diaries" movie is reportedly in the works, and fans of the cult-favorite early 2000s series (that's me! Hi!) Not OK.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Disney is planning to produce a third film, with screenwriter Aadrita Mukerji writing the script. Also, this is a sequel, not a reboot, and is based on the first two films starring Anne Hathaway.

However, Hathaway "has not signed a deal to return," a source told the Reporter, but "if the possibility of a new film moves forward beyond the script stage, she would be willing to return."

Original series producer Debra Martin Chase has been confirmed to be working on this sequel as far as she is concerned.

No need to worry about the fact that Anne Hathaway's role has not yet been confirmed.

"I'm pulling for it more than I'm entertaining it," she told Entertainment Tonight in October. 'If there was a way to get Julie Andrews on board, I think it would work. I'll go where Julie Andrews is and put a green screen behind her and make it happen."

Also in 2016, director Garry Marshall revealed, "I was with Anne Hathaway a few weeks ago and she wants to do 'The Princess Diaries 3' in Manhattan. Anne Hathaway is very pregnant, so I think we'll wait until she has the baby and then we'll do it."

Sadly, Marshall passed away in 2017 and the project was shelved, but as you can see, the idea was not completely abandoned.
