Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Receive Award for Helping Afghan Families

Since leaving the British royal family, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have focused their efforts on philanthropy.

Now, according to the Daily Mail, those efforts are being partially rewarded with a Human First Coalition Partner Organization Award.

In December, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared the first official photo featuring Lilibet, in the form of a family holiday card, through the charity. On Twitter, he wrote, "Proud to partner with the Archerwell Foundation and Prince Harry and Meghan, Duke and Duchess of Sussex. By making a generous donation this holiday season, they are providing care to families in need in Afghanistan and supporting the life-saving work we do every day."

The organization will host an Afghan cultural celebration in New York City on August 15 to raise funds for humanitarian relief in the country.

There, James Holt, executive director of Archewell, will accept the award on behalf of the Sussexes.

According to the e-mail, Holt said, "It is an honor to be recognized by the Human First Coalition, whose steadfast work in Afghanistan has played a key role in providing much-needed aid and successfully displaced and resettled thousands worldwide."

"We share their commitment to helping families and veterans and are grateful for their partnership.

The Duke and Duchess were in New York last month for Prince Harry's speech at the United Nations on the occasion of Nelson Mandela Day.

The couple's other philanthropic efforts include worthy projects such as advocating for family leave, hunger relief, mental health, and efforts to reverse climate change.
