Princess Anne, Prince Edward, and Sophie may no longer be royals working for King Charles, royal experts claim

Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex, have been a common sight at official royal functions in recent weeks, but according to one royal expert, these public roles may be short-lived.

We don't know exactly what Prince Charles plans to do when he ascends to the throne, but it is clear that he wants to usher in a "streamlined monarchy."

And according to royal expert Richard Palmer, it is very likely that Prince Edward and his wife Sophie will not make the cut.

"The other big question mark is over Edward and Sophie. [A few years ago, I was told by a royal official that in a streamlined monarchy under King Charles, there would be no role for any of the royal family, including Anne: ...... I was told that it is always assumed. But it would depend on the timing."

Princess Anne has also attended many royal functions, including a very successful joint visit with Kate Middleton in recent months.

In addition, Palmer commented on the titles that Edward and Sophie may assume when Charles eventually becomes king.

"When Edward and Sophie were married, it was made clear that it was the Queen's intention that Edward would inherit the title of Duke of Edinburgh upon the death of his father, and I believe that title has now reverted to the royal family.

By the way, do you remember the rather amusing fact that Edward became Earl of Wessex because he was so fond of the character played by Colin Firth in Shakespeare in Love? That's my favorite fun fact.
