Princess Meghan and Harry Host Emotional Farewell Lunch for Frogmore Staff

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry (open in new tab) hosted a farewell lunch for former staff at Frogmore Cottage (open in new tab), who were told earlier this year that they would be relieved of their roles following the couple's decision to step down as senior royals (open in new tab) reportedly. This week also marked Meghan and Harry's last official outing as senior royals (opens in new tab) as they prepare to transition to a new life of financial independence (opens in new tab) and privacy.

According to Page Six (opens in new tab), the couple gathered 15 former employees at the Goring Hotel in London for a "surprise celebration" meal. A royal source said this is not the first time the couple has held an event for their devoted team (opens in new tab): "Harry and Meghan have often done fun things, like throwing pizza parties or hiring an ice cream cart for their staff, but spending time together They wanted to do something special for their last week together," the source said. 'They toasted the team and thanked them for all they had done. Some of the staff were in tears."

The source added, "They have all been through so much together and the staff have been working around the clock to make this last visit [to the UK to end their role as senior royals] as seamless as possible. Meghan and Harry really wanted to say thank you. (Seriously, as an aside, can you imagine a pizza party with Meghan and Harry?)

The Goring Hotel is a popular venue among the royal family, and Her Majesty the Queen frequently attends events there. Kate also spent the night before her wedding at the Goring.

Also this week, Meghan and Harry reunited with Prince William and Kate Middleton in public for the first time in months. Here's what one body language expert had to say about that. (opens in new tab)
