Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson confirmed positive for coronavirus

Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson have tested positive for coronavirus, Hanks confirmed in a statement posted on Instagram and Twitter. The couple contracted the disease in Australia, where Hanks was appearing in a film about Elvis Presley.

"Hi everyone. Rita and I are in Australia," Hanks wrote on Instagram. 'We were a little tired, had a cold, and our bodies ached. Rita has chills on and off. She also has a slight fever. To make things right, as is needed in the world now, we were tested for coronavirus and found to be positive."

Warner Bros. confirmed to CNN (opens in new tab) that the Elvis Presley film, in which Hanks plays the singer's manager, Colonel Tom Parker, was in pre-production when Hanks and Wilson became ill.
