Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson Share Update from Coronavirus Isolation

Tom Hanks reported an update from an Australian quarantine station on Friday after announcing that he and wife Rita Wilson had tested positive for coronavirus. Hanks posted a photo of himself with Wilson and wrote, "@ritawilson and I want to thank everyone here Down Under who are taking such good care of us."

"We have Covid-19 and are quarantined so that we can't infect anyone else," the actor continued. 'Some of us could lead to very serious illnesses. We are taking it one day at a time."

As the Guardian reports (open in new tab), the couple fell ill on the Gold Coast of Queensland, where Hanks was shooting a Baz Luhrmann film about Elvis Presley. Hanks wrote on Instagram, "We were a little tired and felt like we had a cold. Rita had chills on and off. She also had a slight fever. To make things right, as is needed in the world now, we were tested for coronavirus and found to be positive."

The couple will remain in quarantine "for as long as public health and safety requires," Hanks promised, and "we will continue to provide updates to the world."
