Ariana Grande blasts the "selfish and stupid privileged class" for not taking the coronavirus seriously.

COVID-19 has now killed more than 6,500 people worldwide, according to a CNN report (opens in new tab). But as Ariana Grande discovered, not everyone is following the advice. In a candid statement posted on social media, she blasted those who are not taking the pandemic seriously and pleaded with her followers to "care more about others, like now."

"I keep hearing statements like "this is no big deal"/"we are fine" from an alarming number of people..." "It really blows my mind" that we still have to live our lives," Grande writes. 'But I hope you read what's going on. I don't want you to turn a blind eye."

"It is incredibly dangerous and selfish to make light of this situation." She continued, "The 'we're young, we're fine' mentality is putting a lot of people who are not young or healthy at risk." You sound stupid, you sound privileged, and you need to care more about other people.

In a subsequent tweet (opens in new tab), Grande wrote, "Your hip hop yoga class can fucking wait I promise."

She added, in support of those who cannot take time off work, "I don't mean to belittle those who don't have the privilege to cancel or call in to work, I'm just trying to help those who can't.

She then encouraged her followers to contact their senators and ask them to support the bill, H.R. 6201 (open in new tab), a legislative package that would guarantee free coronavirus testing as well as two weeks of paid leave for workers who become ill.
